STUDENT PHYSICAL & MENTAL WELLBEING
The wellbeing of our students, mental and physical is paramount and we constantly reflect on our practice to ensure we are doing all we can to look after our students.
Our curriculum builds in time for physical activity, sport, drama and music as well as a range of activities and trips that all help to develop a ‘healthy mind in a healthy body’ as well as provide a stimulating and refreshing counterpart to academic studies.
In our Global Perspectives programme we look at ways in which we can better care for ourselves as well as those around us.
We have our own dedicated full time educational psychologist who works individually with students as well as with groups. Miss Pansee also advises staff on specific individuals and whole school strategies. Students can arrange to see Miss Pansee directly or use discreet and secure suggestion boxes to leave ideas and/or requests for an appointment. Our student mental health champions also address their peers and bring suggestions to management for ways in which we can all work together to help students manage their stresses and anxieties. We aim throughout to empower students to be active participants in looking after their own mental health and, crucially, be a support and inspiration to others
Staff are trained in child protection and safeguarding protocols, updated annually and there are clear systems in place for reporting and following up concerns.
