Forsan American School’s mission is to always provide a safe environment in which students can

learn, grow, and develop. School safety is a fundamental prerequisite for student success and academic achievement. We believe:

  • Every student is entitled to learn to the best of his or her ability
  • Every student is entitled to a safe and caring learning environment
  • Safety is a precondition for learning
  • Safe schools are the responsibility of a community partnership among government ministries, administrators, teachers, support staff, students, parents, police, and community partners


  • Provide education and training to staff and students about safety
  • Provide full-time security personnel and protocols for visitors entering and leaving the school premises
  • Explicitly teach and practice school-wide safety protocols (evacuation procedures, reporting of physical, verbal, and cyber bullying/threats/abuse)

Progressive Discipline

  • Provide and teach a detailed discipline framework to students and staff
  • Understand that intervening in poor behavior is a process and requires steps to success and partnering with specialists and parents


All students deserve to learn in a safe and friendly place, where they are treated with respect and receive the help and support of caring adults. Bullying of any kind will not be tolerated and will be dealt with utilizing various approaches. Students and staff are encouraged to report any and all instances that bullying is suspected.  Staff are to respond quickly and consistently and send the message that bullying is not acceptable.

Types of Bullying


Physical bullying

Physical bullying includes hitting, kicking, spitting, tripping, pinching, pushing or damaging another’s property.

Verbal bullying

Verbal bullying includes name calling, insults, teasing, intimidation, homophobic or racist remarks, or verbal abuse. While verbal bullying can start off harmless, it can escalate to levels which start affecting the individual target.

Social bullying

Social bullying is designed to harm someone’s social reputation and/or cause humiliation.

  • Lying and spreading rumors
  • Negative facial or physical gestures and dirty looks
  • Playing jokes to embarrass and humiliate
  • Mimicking unkindly
  • Encouraging others to socially exclude someone
  • Damaging someone’s social reputation or social acceptance

Cyber bullying

Cyber bullying is using digital technologies, including hardwares such as computers and smartphones, and software such as social media, instant messaging, texts, websites, and other online platforms.

  • Abusive or hurtful texts emails or posts, images or videos
  • Deliberately excluding others online
  • Nasty gossip or rumours
  • Imitating others online or using their log-in

Response to Bullying


  • Intervene immediately. It is ok to get another adult to
  • Separate the kids
  • Make sure everyone is
  • Meet any immediate medical or mental health
  • Stay calm. Reassure the kids involved, including bystanders.


  • Don’t ignore Don’t think kids can work it out without adult help.
  • Don’t immediately try to sort out the facts.
  • Don’t force other kids to say publicly what they saw.
  • Don’t question the children involved in front of other kids.
  • Don’t talk to the kids involved together, only
  • Don’t make the kids involved apologize or patch up relations on the spot.


Report bullying on the Bullying Incident Report on Google Forms shared on your Forsan Gmail. Consequences for bullying will follow the Forsan Behavior Discipline Matrix, meet with the school counselor, and parents will be notified.
